Wednesday is here once again, and with it comes winning Wednesdays!

So did I win anything this week? No, but also kinda yes...

Crocheted marble fiddle friend

Super-galactic travelling friends,

last week I wanted to make myself a quick little fidget style toy to have in my pocket while travelling to visit my parents. Waiting around for your next train can be boring, I didn't really want to get a book out to read, and my tickets were on my phone, so I didn't want to use it too much because it's getting old and the battery isn't as good as it used to be. Also I have general anxiety, so sometimes having a little thing to fiddle with can be nice, and help get my mind off whatever is bothering me.

And so I went onto Pinterest to get some ideas, and came across marble fidget toys. There were some simple ones, and some cute ones, so I decided to take these two styles and combine them to make my very own marble fidget friend.

I played around with some ideas, but in the end decided to go for a poppet style design. I liked the idea I was transferring any and all of my boredom, anxiety, or stress into the little doll. Also, I love spooky stuff as you know!

And this is how my little guy turned out:

Halloween snack buying has begun!

Super-galactic travelling friends,

It may only be the beginning(ish) of September, but Halloween vibes are already in full swing, from decorations to costumes, to delicious snacks.

I thought this year I'd start early with the purchasing of Halloween snack food to try and make sure I get a chance to try as many as possible, and my first top was Marks & Spencer.

Quick and delicious savoury snack to use up puff pastry

Super-galactic travelling friends,

The other day my partner made a delicious savoury mushroom, squash and spinach feta strudel with pre made puff pastry. Whenever we make something with puff pastry there's always some left over, and we never have a plan for it...well this time I did, in the form of marmite and cheese twists!

What flavour crisps are the London underground lines?

crisps blog divider
Super-galactic travelling friends,

the other day my partner and I visited London for the day, and while there it reminded me of a conversation we've had the last couple of times we visited...what flavour crisps are each of the underground lines?

Below is each underground line, and what flavour they could be. Some were fairly obvious in their flavours, while some my partner and I debated about. Let's see if you agree or disagree with our conclusions...

Make a crocheted curly doll friend

Yarn and crochet blog divider
Super-galactic travelling friends,

I've been seeing a lot of crochet clown dolls pop up on my Pinterest where you make a crocheted curl/curlicue as it's arms and legs, and since I made a wind spinner recently, I thought it would be fun to try and make another style of the curly crochet.

I didn't want to make a clown though, just a random doll, and so I went ahead without doing any planning, and that's where I went wrong...my little guy didn't turn out terribly, but it's not quite how I saw it in my head either.

However, I still wanted to pop it on here as I plan to try and make one again at some point in the future, and hopefully see some improvement between the next time and this time. Also, I think sharing projects that didn't go as you hoped are just as important as ones that do. The internet is full of perfect projects, and sometimes it's good to remember that it's ok for projects to come out imperfect too 😆

Anyway enough blabbering, are you ready to see my little weirdo?

Five ways to make pub crawls more interesting when you're on the more sober side of life

Super-galactic travelling friends,

Since cutting way down on alcohol I've been out to pubs many times since. Most of the time it's just going for a couple then heading home, but a couple of times it's been mini pub crawls, where I've gone to three or four places over an evening.

While I may have a half pint at one of them if they have a particularly interesting looking beer, I'll stick to alcohol free drinks the rest of the time.

However, not drinking when you're going to lots of pubs can get boring, even when you're enjoying the company of those you're with, so here's some ways to spice up that night out when you don't want to drink but still want to have fun while out with mates or family.

Attempting to make air fryer apple wedges

apple blog divider
Super-galactic travelling friends,

the other week I made some air fryer wedges, and couldn't believe how quick and easy they were to make (kinda wish I'd take some pics so I could have done a post with the recipe, but I'll do that next time I make them!)

It got me thinking though about wedge based foods I could do in the air fryer...sweet potato wedges...squash wedges...root veg wedges...and then I thought, oooh, apple wedges as a pudding!

Classic smokers are out, Ninja woodfire electric BBQ grill and smoker is in!

Super-galactic travelling friends

many of us love a barbecue, but I think many of us also, a lot of the time, can't be arsed to have one.

Getting out the barbecue, realising we didn't clean it well enough last time we used it over a year ago and having to give it a good clean, or realising it's gone rusty and having to rush out to buy a new one if you have people coming over.

You then have to get the charcoal for it, which you struggle to light, go back out to get firelighters, wait for it to get up to temperature, then finally when you can start to cook you have to fiddle around with the food because of the temperature due to hot and cold spots, and then about eight hours late you finally get to eat.

Of course, you can always just buy an electric barbecue, but then you miss out on the lovely smoky flavours a barbecue brings, and honestly at that point just buy an air fryer that can grill as it's cheaper and easier to store, plus you can use it indoors all year long...that's how I felt anyway, until I learnt about the Ninja smoker.

Autumn bucket list 2026

autumn fall leaves divider
Super-galactic travelling friends,

Autumn is on its way (or is already here if you go by meteorological autumn). It's one of my favourite times of year as it's often cooler without being freezing, orange and browns are back in style, and most importantly of all, it's Halloween time baby!

I always have so many plans for autumn, but then end up doing barely any of them, so I thought hey, if I post an autumn bucket list about things I want to do during autumn, I'm more likely to stick to them. And so, here my 2026 autumn bucket list.

Spicy food reviews-Nightmare naga peanuts

chilli pepper divider
Super-galactic travelling friends,

I am a spicy food fiend, and am always on the look out for the newest spicy things for me to try.

I currently have a backlog of spicy foods and hot sauces I've bought here and there, and I'm always finding new ones to buy, so I thought it would be fun to write reviews of them on here talking about foods partner or I have spotted and bought, where I bought it from, and is it as spicy as advertised.

I personally have a highish spice threshold, so what I don't find overly spicy someone else might find very spicy, so take my ratings with a pinch of salt (or chilli flakes if you will) but I shall try my best to comment on how spicy the foods actually are. I'll also ask my partner, who likes spicy food on occasion but doesn't have as high a spice tolerance as me, to try stuff too to see where his spice rating is where possible, as some things I eat he would rather not try!

Third time's the charm?

Super-galactic travelling friends, why is receiving a delivery so dang hard!?
