Crocheted marble fiddle friend

Super-galactic travelling friends,

last week I wanted to make myself a quick little fidget style toy to have in my pocket while travelling to visit my parents. Waiting around for your next train can be boring, I didn't really want to get a book out to read, and my tickets were on my phone, so I didn't want to use it too much because it's getting old and the battery isn't as good as it used to be. Also I have general anxiety, so sometimes having a little thing to fiddle with can be nice, and help get my mind off whatever is bothering me.

And so I went onto Pinterest to get some ideas, and came across marble fidget toys. There were some simple ones, and some cute ones, so I decided to take these two styles and combine them to make my very own marble fidget friend.

I played around with some ideas, but in the end decided to go for a poppet style design. I liked the idea I was transferring any and all of my boredom, anxiety, or stress into the little doll. Also, I love spooky stuff as you know!

And this is how my little guy turned out:

Make a crocheted curly doll friend

Yarn and crochet blog divider
Super-galactic travelling friends,

I've been seeing a lot of crochet clown dolls pop up on my Pinterest where you make a crocheted curl/curlicue as it's arms and legs, and since I made a wind spinner recently, I thought it would be fun to try and make another style of the curly crochet.

I didn't want to make a clown though, just a random doll, and so I went ahead without doing any planning, and that's where I went wrong...my little guy didn't turn out terribly, but it's not quite how I saw it in my head either.

However, I still wanted to pop it on here as I plan to try and make one again at some point in the future, and hopefully see some improvement between the next time and this time. Also, I think sharing projects that didn't go as you hoped are just as important as ones that do. The internet is full of perfect projects, and sometimes it's good to remember that it's ok for projects to come out imperfect too 😆

Anyway enough blabbering, are you ready to see my little weirdo?

Creepy crochet-intestine wind spinner

3D intestine divider
Dear super-galactic travelling friends,

earlier in the year I made myself a wind spinner, and enjoyed making it so much I wanted to make a bunch of them! And guess what happened? That's right, I haven't made a single one since...

I'm correcting that now though as this last week I've been working on a new wind spinner, and not just any wind spinner, but an intestine themed one!

Trying out the crochet bobble stitch-alien in a UFO

Super-galactic travellers,

I've been teaching myself different crochet skills recently, and one that looked really fun was the bobble stitch.

After practising the bobble stitch with the help of some how to videos, I went about making my first pattern to crochet up,

Alien with UFO crochet bobble stitch pattern in green
and after a few hours this is what the end result looked like.

My camera really didn't like taking a photo of this green...

And honestly? I was pretty disappointed with how it came out...but that was down to my design not being very good.

Not to be dissuaded, I went back to the drawing board to make my original design a bit more exciting. After some editing, and many hours of crocheting, this is how my little alien in a UFO version 2.0 came out:

Filet (o-fish) crochet

cute fish blog divider

Fellow super-galactic travellers,

I've finally learnt how to filet crochet...well kinda anyway...

I thought it would be pretty easy to learn the basics, but every flipping tutorial gave different advice on what to do, so eventually thought sod it, I'll go for (boring time!) 3Ch per box with a Ch two skip two method, and this is the result
